Portsmouth were cruising to a win after going two goals up, but strikes from Matt Derbyshire and Tugay brought Rovers level and looking odds on to grab the winner.

But Sean Davis came off the bench to grab the winner for the home side and Adams praised his players.

He said: 'I'm amazed with the spirit at this club.

'We have shown that spirit again today and have been exceptional on that front since I've been here.

'I didn't think we played well in the first half at all.

'We were flat. I needed to tell them we needed to push on and they did that in the second half.

'I got Sean on because I needed to get some legs in the team, and it worked. It was a great goal".
