"We're still waiting to find the pairing that doesn't allow me to change it," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"A lot of players, and not just the centre-forwards, have been far too inconsistent this year."

Only Stoke, Wolves and Portsmouth have scored fewer goals than Blackburn in the Premier League, with Allardyce's side managing a goal a game ratio in their 20 league fixtures so far.

I'm not really 100% sure in my mind just yet what is my best eleven Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce

But the Rovers' boss feels every player needs to take responsibility to avoid the club being dragged into a relegation battle.

"Lack of consistently good performances from some of the players has just been the edge of us not getting some of the key wins we should've done," he said.

"It's caused me to say 'do I hang on and wait until they come back to form or do I change it?'

"I'm not really 100% sure in my mind just yet what is my best eleven because the lads haven't grasped it often enough to force it upon me, and say, 'you can't change this side because it's playing consistently well'."
