Burgess in action with Rovers
Stockport County's manager has apparently been trying to sign Burgess since last November. He has finally managed to achieve his goal and is said to be extremely pleased after he signed Burgess in a 4 year deal.

The 20 year old ex-Rover decided to leave the club after realising his first team opportunities would be limited there.

When asked about the move to Edgeley Park, Burgess said: "Obviously, it's not easy to leave a Premiership club but Carlton Palmer [the Stockport County Manager] has been after me for a long time and that says a lot to me about his determination to bring me to the club."

He continued: "When I spoke to him what he told me about his plans for the future seemed pretty exciting and I wanted to be a part of it.

I just can't wait for the season to start now."
