After ten minutes of the game Reid equalised Allan Johnstons opener for Boro with a good shot from just inside the area.
Seven minutes later the Rovers midfielder was involved in a tackle that left Boro's defender Andy Davies with a broken leg and ten minutes before half-time Reid limped out of the game himself with a hamstring injury in his left leg.
Boro striker Michael Ricketts won the game for the visitors with a goal eight minutes from time.
