City Pay The Penalty

After a wait of 57 league games, Rovers were given a spot kick after City defender Danny Mills hacked down Paul Dickov. Our last penalty actually came in April 2003 at Fulham, when David Dunn scored in a 4-1 win - a team including Damien Duff and Hakan Sukur (remember him?).

City had taken the lead through Sibierski just before half-time, but Rovers came out from the break a determined unit. The equaliser came when a through ball split the City defence and ex-City striker Dickov pounced, only for Danny Mills to take his legs away just inside the penalty area. A slight suspicion of offside, but the referee sent off Mills much to the delight of the Rovers supporters.

Dickov then stepped up to smash home to register his second goal in as many games. And some said he wasn't prolific.

Rovers proceeded to pile the pressure on 10-man City but couldn't find the decisive winner. Still, a good away point for Rovers - these draws might not be doing much for our point total at the moment, but at least it's providing a base for us to build on until we get Andriy Shevchenko in January.
