Ferguson, however, has dismissed these reports.
"I don’t know where these reports come from, my recovery is well on track and I am very positive about playing again soon," he told the clubs official website.
"I am on course and, although last night’s match was too early, I am hoping to play a Reserve team game soon. I am very keen to play some part in the Premiership again, before this season is over.
"I am nearly there and really looking forward to being involved again."
