Hughes: Credit To Arsenal

"You would think it is an opportunity lost to beat Arsenal, but sometimes it can be more difficult against a team with one guy less and we found that today," he said after the match.

"Conceding a goal was perfect for Arsenal, because they could drop deeper and hit on the break.

"We got done with the second goal because we over-committed and so we are disappointed because you expect to do better.

"But we had chances and two good ones fell to young Matty (Derbyshire). He's disappointed, as are the whole team, because they were good opportunities and at good times.

"The first one came very early on and if the second one goes in with 15 minutes to go then anything could happen.

"He's come in, scored a couple of goals recently and that's why I played him, because I thought we could get him into space down the flanks, but they soon became a premium once they went a goal up.

"But credit to Arsenal, I thought they were excellent. They were organised, always had that threat and scored a great goal to win the game."
