The game at Ewood Park was given an extra edge to it following Canaries boss pre-match quotes that Rovers were adopting bullying tactics in an effort to steer themselves clear of the bottom three.

"It was important that we won in the manner we did. We showed everybody we are able to get the ball down and pass well and create chances," Hughes said after the 3-0 win.

"If Norwich had watched us over the course of the season I'm sure they would know we were capable of that.

"We made a bit of statement about what we are about and we are glad we were able to make the right points."
