Jordan Rhodes ready to make step up to the Premier League

Blackburn have been fairly inconsistent this season and currently sit in 15th place. Confident performances against Barnsley and Bolton in the league are the only significant highlights in what looks set to be a stop start season for the Lancashire side.

Rhodes failed to find the net in his first three games of the season but has made up for this by netting six goals in his last five appearances in the league. The Scotsman finished runner-up to Glenn Murray last season for the Championship golden boot and currently has 114 goals across the football leagues in just 204 appearances.

The traditional centre forward has now been around the international set up for two years and has had a taste of top-level football. He is currently challenging Sunderland?s Steven Fletcher for a place up front for his country and will feel he has a better chance of securing the role if he is playing regularly in the Premier league. If Blackburn fail to get promoted this season it stands a chance they will lose their talisman to the Premier league.

Genuine goal scorers are worth their weight in gold and although he is tied to a five year contract I think there will be a fair amount of interest if he continues to score goals in the Championship. Although Rhodes made his debut way back in 2007, he is only 23 and under the right guidance could be used to devastating effect in the Premier league.

Rhodes isn?t blessed with great pace, but has a clear eye for goal and can finish with both feet. He?s the Championship?s answer to Alan Shearer, he has great heading ability, can hold the ball up and his link up play is immense. Sides will have to pay a substantial fee to secure the forward but in my opinion it would be a shrewd acquisition as he will continue to develop into a top quality centre forward.
