McCarthy Targets Rovers Shut Out

McCarthy says his side had a massive moral boost when they beat Sunderland 3-2 last weekend but he wants to stop his men shipping in goals against.

In fact, McCarthy would rather see his side win 1-0 and he believes it could be possible after Blackburn’s hammering last week.

“Last week was a just reward for the work we’ve put in,” he said.

“We need to carry on doing what we’ve been doing.

“And we still need to keep a clean sheet and certainly not concede the goals we have, because it was the first time we’ve scored three in the Premier League at home.

“We scored three at West Ham last season, but that and Saturday are the only two times we’ve done it, so we can’t afford to concede two goals because we aren’t going to win too many games 3-2.

“A nice 1-0 win would be nice.”
