Graeme Souness's outfit tackle Chelsea in a crucial Premiership game at Ewood Park on Wednesday night searching for three points to edge closer to Premiership survival following promotion next term.

And club officials have admitted that there will be no deals struck for new players until the club discover which division they will be operating in this season.

Rovers chief Souness is reportedly keen on attacking midfielder Pirlo, while also keeping tabs on Russian midfielder Valeri Karpin.

With the uncertainty surrounding the ITV Digital deal for Nationwide League clubs, Blackburn are reluctant to commit to moves for players with the threat of relegation still hanging over the club.

And Ewood Park chief executive John Williams has admitted that all transfer moves are off until safety is secured.

Williams said: "Our scouts are going out watching games all the time but at the moment all we are focusing on are the games ahead.

"Names get mentioned to us all the time but we are not pursuing any specific targets at present because we are fighting to stay in the Premiership."
