Nzonzi Ready For City Game

Blackburn are hoping the weather does not put paid to the trip to Eastlands as they go in search of their first win in the Premier League since November.

It is a big ask for Sam Allardyce's players against City's expensively-assembled squad - which was boosted further on Friday by the arrival of Patrick Vieira - but N'zonzi is ready to try to match the star-studded opposition.

"It will be a hard game but I hope we will take three points - it is very important for us," said Nzonzi.

"It is exciting but, when you are on the pitch, you don't look at the players (of the other team). As a player, you just do your best and show that you are good, too.

"I am enjoying it here - England has a very good championship.

"I like playing against big players and big teams and I hope the second part of the season will be good."

N'zonzi has been accustomed to taking a winter break during the French season but the 21-year-old was more than happy to continue playing Premier League football this year and even brought his family across the channel to share in the experience.

"Last year it was nice to have a break but to play here is not a problem - it's nice to play at Christmas," N'zonzi continued.

"My family came here to England for me, to watch me on television or in the stadium."

Blackburn have in fact had an enforced break over the last few days after the postponement of Tuesday night's Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Aston Villa due to the severe weather but, with the game being rearranged for January 14, they now face the prospect of four matches in 10 days.

Allardyce admitted the cancellation had come as a massive disappointment to his players but, having advised them to stay at home for two days during the worst of the weather, he is hopeful they will feel the benefit of some extra rest.

"The postponement has disrupted us because we were ready for it," Allardyce said.

"It's the biggest game of the season and I think the lads were well prepared for it, even with the weather being so bad.

"As always, you start building yourself up and up a few days before and then you've got the let down when it's called off.

"They have hopefully used those two days to their advantage in terms of resting, getting recovered and getting the batteries charged up even more for the hectic period that lies ahead."
