Rams Want Sav

Rams boss Paul Jewell has said that he is a big admirer of the Rovers midfielder but that the players wage demands could prove a stumbling block in his efforts to take Savage to Pride Park.

"I'd like to have Robbie, and I've spoken to Blackburn, but whether we can do something is out of my hands," Jewell has said.

"We've not yet agreed a fee, so it's up to the chairman if we can do a deal because it's also quite an expensive one for us.

"But Robbie is a player I like, and I am interested in. I'd like to bring someone of his character to Derby.

"I know people do look at his character, but he is a better player than those people give him credit for."

Sunderland, Wigan Athletic and Fulham are also believed to be keen on the former Leicester City and Birmingham City player who is struggling to hold down a regular starting place at Rovers this season.
