Rangers Admit Defeat In Ferguson Signing

Rovers rejected a bid that would have totalled £4million for the Scotland international from his his former club earlier today (Thursday) and the Scottish side say they will not be increasing their offer for the player.

A statement on the official Rangers website reads: "Rangers Football Club can confirm that a further increased offer was made today to Blackburn Rovers to acquire the registration of Barry Ferguson.

"Our £4 million offer was rejected and negotiations will proceed no further after Blackburn Rovers made it clear they would only accept a transfer fee of £6 million.

"Rangers Football Club is disappointed as we believe this offer to be substantial."
