Blackburn Rovers have today announced that they have completed the signing of New Zealand international captain, Ryan Nelsen.
The news comes just days after Rovers revealed the signing of another international captain - South African defender Aaron Mokoena. The defender has signed an 18-month contract, and will boost Rovers cover at the back after recent injuries to Craig Short and Michael Gray. Nelsen joins on a free transfer from USA side DC United after impressing in trials with the club. The player was thrilled to have joined the club and told us; "It's great to sign for such a fantastic club. Everything about Blackburn has Premier League written all over it - the management, the players and the facilities."
If nothing else, the signing of two central defenders who are international captains for just over £300k sounds like good business. Meanwhile Rovers continue to be linked to high-profile targets Robbie Savage of Birmingham City, and John Hartson of Glasgow Celtic.
