Rovers Confirm Savage Signing

After weeks of intense media speculation, the midfielder has finally signed a three-and-half year contract much to the delight of the Rovers fans.

The 30-year old joins up with his former international manager Mark Hughes, and looks set to make his debut in Monday night's televised clash with local rivals Bolton Wanderers. The fee, thought to be in the region of £3million, is still way short of the £3.6million valuation Savage's previous employers Birmingham City placed upon him.

However, Birmingham chairman David Gold has outraged Rovers fans by telling the media: "I think one of the factors behind Robbie's transfer was the pressure of playing for a club the size of Birmingham City. I think he will be much more comfortable playing for a smaller club such as Blackburn."

It is quite evident that our midlands friends are gutted at the loss of their best player, and Gold in particular is most bitter.
