Rovers Dismiss Ince Rumours

Ince is available on a free transfer after his contract with the relegated Molineux side expired at the end of last season and newspaper reports were suggesting Rovers were interested in the former England player.

"There's no truth in that whatsoever, his name has never been mentioned, let alone discussed," Rovers chief executive John Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

"In terms of squad positions and our requirements, we wanted to bring in a left sided player and another striker into the club, which we have done.

"We have one other position in mind that we'd like to fill, finances permitting, but it isn't in midfield and certainly not Paul Ince.

"We remain in discussions with Dominic Matteo and his people. It hasn't gone any further but the communication line is open."
