Rovers have been linked with a move for the 20-year-old for some time and it’s no secret that manager Sam Allardyce has been impressed with what he has seen of the youngster.

Carlo Ancelotti is thought to be keen on Di Santo which means he has a future at Chelsea, but he would be willing to let the player go out on loan to gain some valuable experience.

Allardyce will turn to Di Santo in the hunt to replace Roque Santa Cruz, but is believed to have other irons in the fire. Speculation has it that Benjani may be in his sights.
