Blackburn are keeping an eye on Czech Republic international Marek Jankulovski with a view to bringing him to Ewood Park in the summer.
The player has been virtually an ever present in the AC Milan side for the last five years.
But his contract is not going to be renewed when his current deal runs out and Big Sam is said to be chomping at the bit to get hold of him.
According to reports in the Italian press, Rovers have been in contact with the club, but Werder Bremen are also interested.
Jankulovski said: "I will decide what to do at the end of the season, but now nothing is certain."
