Germany-born Basturk was part of the Bayer Leverkusen's team which lost the Champions League final 2-1 to Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2002.
He was also part of Turkey's 2002 World Cup team which finished third.
Basturk earned his reputation as a creative midfielder following three seasons with Leverkusen before moving to Hertha Berlin in 2004.
He joined then German champions Stuttgart in July 2007, making 30 appearances for the club.
