"At the time of his transfer there was an understanding between the two clubs that he wouldn't take part in the fixture against his old club," Hughes told the official Rovers website.
"So at this moment in time he won't be involved, whether or not that changes from now to the game we'll have to see.
"It is always interesting when you go back to your old club, but if it is not to be this time there is always next year."
