Having gone a goal behind late in the first half, Rovers fought back after the break to take all three points at The Madejski Stadium, much to the delight of manager Hughes.

"We needed a response in the second half and it was important to be positive," the Rovers boss said after the 2-1 victory.

"I thought if we could get to half-time then I might change things around, but they scored four minutes before half-time and it made the changes easy.

"I wanted a response and I got it. I thought they were magnificent in the second half. I lost count of how many we scored, but thankfully two of them counted.

"When the third goal was chalked off I started to think it wouldn't be our day, but we kept going and kept forcing the game and kept doing the hard yards."
