Souness: Decisions went against us

Last updated : 04 December 2002 By FootyMAD
Souness claimed that the decision by referee Uriah Rennie not to award a penalty when striker Andrew Cole appeared to be fouled in the box by Jon Fortune in the first half, and several others, cost Rovers their chance to record their first victory in seven games.

"It was a penalty - it should have been a penalty," he said.

"Without harping on about referees, these moments can change games.

"There was also an offside before they won their corner for the second goal. If the offside had been given, they would not have won a corner.

"Decisions went against us all match."

After getting ourselves back in it, you'd have thought we would have had the momentum. That's the sort of period we're going through at the moment.

"Collectively I thought we played well but individual mistakes are costing us everything."
