The Rovers boss was so angry he sent assistant Tony Parkes to do the after match interviews: "The manager is not very happy about the performance. He is not in a good mood, he's very annoyed and has let the players know his feelings about it," said Parkes.

"If you had seen him after the game you would realise how important getting into Europe was.

"If you could have picked a team to play knowing a win would probably have put you into Europe you would choose a relegated side, but these things happen - that's why there are football pools."

"It was a big disappointment but West Brom battled hard and we could even have lost on another day.

"We didn't create enough, we didn't play well enough. There were too many passes and pedestrian build-up play.

"I would include Tugay in that, everything went through him and he was too slow getting forward, and David Dunn was another in that mould."
