Cobblers boss Stuart Gray stepped in for the youngster as cover for Chris Dunn who is now Northampton's number one choice after Mark Bunn left the club to join Blackburn.

The 20-year-old was a regular between the posts for the Blackburn reserve side in 2006-07 season and has represented England at under-19 level.

Last season he made 39 appearances for Wycombe Wanderers while on loan.

"He is a good young keeper," said Gray.

"He trained with us on Monday afternoon and fitted in well.

"For a keeper so young he has a good deal of experience after a successful loan at Wycombe last season and he is coming here to add to our squad."
