The defender has signed a five year contract that will keep him at Ewood Park until 2015 after impressing with his youth team displays, showing that he is a natural captain and not being fazed when he made his first team debut at Villa Park at the end of last season.
Hanley follows youngsters Phil Jones, Martin Olsson and Junior Hoilett in signing new deals.
